“If I teach them to rise, I rise with them.”
Being a mother has been the toughest, yet most rewarding job I have ever had. 16 years ago, I set aside my career and devoted my time and energies to my first born son. From there our family grew to 7 kids, 4 boys and 3 girls. I have learned many lessons throughout this season of my life, many of which I am thankful for.
When I look at what was, to what is, I can only say that my choosing to be an active part of their lives and teach them diligently and intently what I wanted them to know, has been worth it. Using my influence as their mother to shape future men and women with character qualities such as honesty, integrity, hard work, to appreciate and value education, explore their passions, pursue talents and flourish in them. To enjoy life, to engage learning, to embrace hardship. To love God with all of who they are and live it out with the people they interact with daily.
Giving them the life skills that will make them successful as an adult and as a future husband or wife, father or mother has been a challenge, but a privilege all at the same time. I’m investing in families. In futures. In people.
Yes, I am underpaid and often unnoticed, but the dividends and profits of who they have become have far surpassed the years in time which I poured into them. My little people are growing into likable members of our world, ones I hope and pray will have a strong impact.
I love that God chose me for this job. I appreciate that He has provided for me and for our families needs as I agreed to work day in and day out for no pay. It has payed off in lasting ways. Relationships. Well rounded humans living under our roof that we can share life with. Endless memories.
But….. I am not alone!

“She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: many women do noble things but you surpass them all.”
